How to Make a Ritual Bathing Bowl
A favourite little self-care ritual of mine is to make a Ritual Bathing Bowl.
A simple and nourishing practice which includes two key elements: An earthenware dish, I love to use local pottery, stoneware or terra cotta, and various home-foraged ingredients which you will select to fill your bowl in preparation for your healing bath.
You can use any ingredients you have on hand, from a sprinkle of sea or pink salt, to fresh herbs like mint, thyme, lavender, lemon balm, and rosemary. Add a small drizzle of an organic oil such as Olive, Almond, Safflower, Coconut, Jojoba or Grape Seed, and incorporate a beloved loose leaf tea, garden flowers, or a favourite tea bag! I love to use green or black tea bags as they have wonderful antioxidants that are excellent for the skin.
You can include a pinch of natural clay powder, such as kaolin or bentonite clay, or a sprinkle of organic oats, and a wedge of fresh citrus, like grapefruit or lemon - which will uplift the senses and release aromatic oils into the water. Once you have a few elements in your Ritual Bathing Bowl, run a bath, slide into the tub, and take a few moments to add each item into the bath, focusing on slow, deep and rhythmic breathing into the belly.
Tip: If you don’t want all of the herbal bits to clog your drain, you can place these elements into a bit of cheese cloth or muslin bag, and drop into the water to steep. Squeeze the herbal parcel often to release all of the goodness!
Blessed Bathing, dearest friends!
